Part 872bm – Brunhammer Doherty Genealogy – Grandaunt Florida McAteer – Birth September 1891 – Wilmington, Delaware

23 July 2014

Good Day,

I have decided to jump in and continue work on the McAteer genealogy. Grandmother Anna M. (née McAteer) Brunhammer was one of five daughters of great-grandparents John and Isabel (née Pierce) McAteer.

Check out my previous effort on the McAteer Descendant Chart at Part 103m – McAteer Genealogy – New Descendant Chart.

The eldest daughter was grandaunt Florida McAteer. I have located the following paperwork for grandaunt Florida’s birth –

All-things-being-equal gg-grandfather John McAteer's occupation in 1891/2 is listed in both documents as a "Starcher". From what I can find a "Starcher" may have been a "Laundry worker who stiffened shirts and other garments with hot starch in a tumbling machine."  Six years later gg-grandfather John's occupation is registered on the 1900 US Census as "Policeman."

And the search and research continues.

Enjoy,

Jim
