Part 319s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Smith Indenture Study – 1832 Benjamin and Sophia Ventour & James Smith

13 July 2010

Afternoon,

And at times there is success in the finding of genealogical information. In this case I have completed transcribing the first of two Indentures that include, I believe, three members of my family tree. They include ggg-grandfather James Smith; his daughter, gg-grandaunt Sophia (née Smith) and her husband, Benjamin Ventour.

This Indenture was entered to the Grenada Registers of Records 27 October 1832 and created the day before 26 October 1832. I’m not quite sure how the transaction involved each party but it appears that the sale contract is between Benjamin and Sophia Ventour and Owsley Rowley. Why ggg-grandfather James’ name is included, at this point, is beyond me?

The images are downloaded from Pages 289 through 290 are from Item 6 of the microfilm FHL [1563380]
