Part 542s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Another New Smith Indenture Study Matrix – In Progress

07 July 2011

Morning,

The next new Smith Indenture Study Matrix is the beginning of my current work with regards to the Grenada Registers of Records 1785-1797 (v. K1-T1). These Indentures are entered on the Registers microfilmed on FHL [1563320].

If you are new reader to A Genealogy Hunt, the purpose of an Indenture Study Matrix is to present a visual and consolidated summary of those Postings of transcriptions of Records associated with specific Smiths. This Matrix presents cross-references, by Part number to the associated Postings of the microfilm which is a copy of the Grenada Registers of Records.

To view the Matrix, click on the image and increase the viewing aspect per your viewing software or application. Please note that I have not segregated the Posting numbers by unique individuals only by unique names, as encountered in each Record.

I have only listed the singular Smith names. In other words, there may be more than one individual with the same name, for example, James Smith. I have only recorded those names as single entries if and only if there is a unique prefix or suffix added to the name. For example, James Smith and James Smith, Junior each may be represented on separate, single lines of the Matrix. The listed Smith may or may not be the same individual but the transcribed Record(s) may not have any clues or hints as to that fact.

In order to see a specific Part, please enter the Part number, e.g. Part 538s, into the “Search This Blog” box. You can also see a copy of this Matrix by clicking the Matrices tab at the top of the page under the header and choosing the corresponding title on the pull-down menu.

All Matrices can be used in conjunction with each other. Check out other Matrices by clicking on the Matrices tab at the top of each page.

I'm using SmartDraw VP to create the Matrix and hopefully, sometime soon, I hope to provide immediate links to relevant Posting as indicated within the Matrix. At some point, I hope to present the Matrix with working links. The nice thing about SmartDraw VP is that it has this capability in a SmartDraw form.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Part 540s - Smith Robertson Genealogy - New Smith Indenture Study Matrix

04 July 2011

Evening,

Thunderstorm's approaching. I thought I should get my work Matrix posted before I take another lightning hit on the house.

Please note that there is a new Header; "Matrices". As I have four new Matrices on the make I thought this work justified its own menu listing. All-things-being-equal the total number of Matrices completed and in progress will total eight.

The new Smith Indenture Study Matrix is associated with the microfilm FHL [1563379].

If you are new to reading A Genealogy Hunt, the purpose of an Indenture Study Matrix is to present a visual and consolidated summary of those Postings of transcriptions of Records associated with specific Smiths. This Matrix presents cross-references, by Part number to the associated Postings of the microfilm which is a copy of the Grenada Registers of Records, 1811-1825 (v. W4-H5).

My Tangent - Happy 4th of July - Genealogy Research Matrixes

Good Morning, and a Happy Fourth of July,

This morning, I opened the house after basking in the glory of ac for the past couple of days. The current temperature at 8:00 am is just 75° F, and the humidity is 84%. Psychologically as I can now “depend” on closing the windows and cranking up the ac, I do not feel as clammy and hot.

Happy 4th! A nice day to have off, excepting for the quadrupeds; they do not relish the swooshes, the bangs, and the pops of the humans’ celebration.

I will be adding a new header at the top of A Genealogy Hunt shortly. The new header will be “Matrix”. This will include a drop down menu of tables and summary charts of work that I have been conducting in my genealogy research. Currently there are four “Smith Indenture Study Matrix…” under the header “Analyses”. There soon will be a total of seven, plus a couple more.

Enjoy the day,

Jim

Thought I would reformat the Matrix that I introduced in Part 445s. This should present the image of the summary data in a more legible form... hopefully...

And as mentioned if you would like a copy file please contact me.

Enjoy,

Part 445s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Indenture Research – Smiths To Date

Afternoon,

Today I decided to take just a small respite from my work on my Transcription Project. The actual work is relevant to the search of the genealogy and origins of my ggg-grandfather James Smith. I am trying to determine from where and when he did “appear” on the Island of Grenada. For all intents and purposes ggg-grandfather James could have been born in Grenada… There is no immediate or actual discovered proof as to his origins.

The effort of my Transcription Project is to review as many Indentures, Contracts, and Documents from the Grenada Registers of Records which include, at least once, the surname Smith. I have limited, within reason, my search to the mid-to-late 1700s to the mid-1800s. I am hoping that in my review I may stumble across a hint, clue, lead, intimation, suggestion, idea, etc., which may lead me to that “Eureka” moment and assist me to discover the earlier generations of my Smith ancestors.

In the process of my search I am working with those Indentures, Contracts, and Documents from the Grenada Registers of Records that have been collected on microfilm by the Family History Library. As I work with each microfilm, which does represent a period of time, I have created Matrixes which record each unique Smith that I encounter and have included in a specific Posting in A Genealogy Hunt. These Matrixes can be seen listed under the Analyses tab in the Menu at the top of each page.

In a further effort, I have created a new Matrix which summarizes each unique individual named Smith as he or she may appear in a Document, and in my related Posting, from a specific microfilm. (See the write up on Grenada Family History as presented by The National Archives.)

I am currently working to provide an online and clear Matrix. If you would like a copy of the Matrix please contact me. If you any questions, comments, ideas please feel free to contact me.

Enjoy,

Jim

Part 442s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Smith Indenture Study – Updated Research Matrix

24 January 2011

Afternoon,

I introduced an organizational component of my research and work early on in my Indenture Transcription Project; the Research Matrix. The purpose of the Research Matrix is to provide an immediate cross-referenced Index, of sorts that I can refer back to those Blog Postings that are particular and specific to a Smith ancestor or possibility.

I am a visual person when it comes to the organization of information, which of course could mean “Don’t move that pile cause I know exactly where that piece of paper with that bit of data is hidden in that stack.” And my organization on line at times can be somewhat prodigious…(a diplomatic way of saying “overwhelming”.)

I have created related Smith Indenture Study Matrixes. The data and Smith names provided on each Matrix, is relevant information which provides an immediate cross-reference table to each and every individual FHL microfilm that I have worked with or am working on, as associated with the Grenada Registers of Records. These Matrixes are filed under my menu tab labeled “Analyses”. The major thrust of this Study is the search and research for the origins and ancestry of my ggg-grandfather James Smith.

This new Smith Indenture Study Matrix is an update, mapping my work in progress, is associated with the microfilm FHL [1563379]. These Records are of the Grenada Registers of Records 1811-1825 (v. W4-H5). The previous update is at Part 406s.

If you are new to reading A Genealogy Hunt, the purpose of an Indenture Study Matrix is to present a visual and consolidated summary of those Postings of transcriptions of Records associated with specific Smiths.

For example, James Smith and James Smith, Junior each are represented on separate, single lines of the Matrix. The listed Smith may or may not be the same individual but the transcribed Record(s) may not have any clues or hints as to that fact.

In order to see a specific Part, please enter the Part number, e.g. Part 441s, into the “Search This Blog” box. You can also see a copy of this Matrix by clicking the Analyses tab at the top of the page under the header and choosing the corresponding title on the pull-down menu.

I'm using SmartDraw VP to create the Matrix and hopefully, sometime soon, I hope to provide immediate links to relevant Posting as indicated within the Matrix. At some point, I hope to present the Matrix with working links. The nice thing about SmartDraw VP, it has the link capability in a SmartDraw form. This is a definite goal when I attack the creation of the A Genealogy Hunt website.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Part 406s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Smith Indenture Study – New Research Matrix

02 November 2010

Evening,

In due course of my research and work on my Indenture Transcription Project I need to ensure that I keep some semblance of organization. As I have reiterated a number of times in my writings for A Genealogy Hunt, the work that appears on this site is that work which I am conducting and in a manner, journalizing.

All-things-being-equal I am a visual person when it comes to organization of information and I have created related Smith Indenture Study Matrixes.

This new Smith Indenture Study Matrix, mapping my work in progress, is associated with the microfilm FHL [1563379]. These Records are of the Grenada Registers of Records 1811-1825 (v. W4-H5).

Part 364s - Smith Robertson Genealogy - A New Smith Indenture Study Matrix

18 September 2010

Good Afternoon, Again,

This a new Smith Indenture Study Matrix for the microfilm FHL [1563330].

If you are new to reading A Genealogy Hunt, the purpose of an Indenture Study Matrix is to present a visual and consolidated summary of those Postings of transcriptions of Records associated with specific Smiths. This Matrix presents cross-references, by Part number to the associated Postings of the microfilm which is a copy of the Grenada Registers of Records, 1837-1881 (v. Z2-G3).

For example, James Smith and James Smith, Junior each are represented on separate, single lines of the Matrix. The listed Smith may or may not be the same individual but the transcribed Record(s) may not have any clues or hints as to that fact.

In order to see a specific Part, please enter the Part number, e.g. Part 333s, into the “Search This Blog” box.

At some point, I hope to present the Matrix with relevant and associated links.

Please note that in my specific research and search for information regarding my ggg-grandfather James Smith I have not continued examining the Records and Indentures past 1878. My reasoning is that ggg-grandfather James passed away approximately some 35 years earlier and I felt, at this point in time, that the chances of finding any specific reference to him at this juncture may be only of a very remote possibility. I will return to my research of the later documents and records that are Smith-related once I have been able to find and discover the origins of ggg-grandfather James.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Part 316s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Smith Indenture Study Matrix Update - Again

11 July 2010

Morning,

I’ve received a number of requests to tweak my Smith Indenture Study Matrix to help readers when they pull it up on their monitors. The quick and easy way I came up with was to delete those Smiths who are not mentioned or are not included, up to this point, in the current set of Grenada Registers of Records that I am working on.

The purpose of the Matrix is to present a visual and consolidated summary of those Postings of Transcriptions of Records associated with specific Smiths. This Matrix represents the microfilm which is a copy of the Grenada Registers of Records, 1825-1834 (v. H5-O5).

All directions for use apply as to my previous Study Matrices: Part 315s FHL [1563380]; and the microfilms FHL [1563378] and FHL [1563379].

Enjoy,
