Part 937ss – GGG-Grandfather Alexander Reid Scott – A Confusion?

Good Day,

Note to self – The discovery of more documents may and can change the actual connections of your ancestors to me. Based on the discoveries, everything is subject to change.

From the records I have discovered in my search regarding GGG-Grandfather Alexander Reid Scott, there is a wee bit, actually a lot of confusion. The confusion is whether there are 3 or 4 wives and partners. At this point of my search I have followed the trail of the documents and I believe that GGG-Grandfather Alexander had 6 children, that I have been able to account for, belong to his 3 wives and partners.

His wives and partners were –

1. Anne Wall – I have discovered that GGG-Grandfather Alexander Reid Scott and Anne Wall were not married at the time of their sons’ baptism. They did have 2 sons:

a. William Scott – b. 1824
b. Allan Scott – b. 1828

2. Eliza Hall – I am still looking for the possibility of a Marriage Registration. They had 1 son.

a. Alexander Scott – b. 1830

3. Eliza Miller – GGG-Grandfather Alexander Reid married Eliza Miller in 1846. They had 3 children:

a. Isabel Anne Georgina Scott – b. 1847
b. Charles James Cater Scott – b. 1849
c. Fanny Auguste Mary Scott – b. 1853

GGG-Grandfather Alexander Reid Scott passed away some time between 1853 and 1861. His death could have happened somewhere between Kingston, Jamaica and Liverpool, England.

After his death, Eliza (née Miller) Scott married George Louthean. GGG-Grandfather Alexander’s widow Eliza became George Louthean’s 3rd wife.

I have presented an almost concise date line of events. Outlining the events in this manner has help me to further hone in on what and how they occurred in GGG-Grandfather Alexander Reid Scott’s life.

• 1801 October 1 – George Louthean of Liverpool marries Sarah Alcock of Liverpool at the Parish of Liverpool. (Document on file)

• 1802 March 16 – Alexander Reid Scott born to James Scott and Anne Reid in the Parish of Leith South, County of Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. (Document on file.)

• 1802 April 12 – Alexander Reid Scott baptized, born to James Scott and Anne Reid in the Parish of Leith South, County of Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. (Document on file.)

• 1824 September 6 – William Scott born to Alexander Reid Scott and Anne Wall in the Parish of Kingston in County of Surry. Not married. (Document on file)

• 1831 December 6 – Allen Scott born to Alexander Reid Scott and Anne Wall in the Parish of Kingston in County of Surry. Not married. (Document on file)

• 1830 August 17 – Alexander Scott born to Alexander Reid Scott and Eliza Hall in the Parish of Saint Andrew in County of Surry. (Document on file)

• 1831 August 14 – William Scott baptized, born to Alexander Reid Scott and Anne Wall in the Parish of Kingston in County of Surry. Not married. (Document on file)

• 1831 August 14 – Allen Scott baptized, born to Alexander Reid Scott and Anne Wall in the Parish of Kingston in County of Surry. Not married. (Document on file)

• 1833 July 30 – Alexander Scott baptized, born to Alexander Reid Scott and Eliza Hall in the Parish of Saint Andrew in County of Surry. (Document on file)

• 1846 Qtr 2 – Alexander Reid Scott marries Eliza Miller at Sudbury, Suffolk. Volume 12 P 687 Line #59. (Index on file, document on order)

• 1847 Qtr 2 – Annie Isabella Georgina Scott born at Sudbury, Suffolk. Volume 12 P 434 Line #59. (Index on file.)

• 1848 June 8 – George Louthean of Liverpool marries Isabella Maria Easton of Liverpool at Saint Bride’s Church in the Parish of Liverpool. (Document on file)

• 1849 January 7 – Charles James Cater Scott born to Alexander Reid Scott and Eliza (no maiden name) in the Parish of Port Royal in the County of Surry. (Document on file)

• 1849 April 30 – Charles James Cater Scott baptized, born to Alexander Reid Scott and Eliza (no maiden name) in the Parish of Port Royal in the County of Surry. (Document on file)

• 1853 February 9 – Fanny Augusta Mary Scott baptized, born to Alexander Reid Scott and Eliza (no maiden name) in the Parish of Liverpool in the County of Lancaster. (Document on file)

• Some date between 1853 and 1861 – Alexander Reid Scott passes away.

• 1861 England Census – Eliza Scott, Isabella and Fanny Scott are registered at District 4, St. Mary Paddington, Paddington, Middlesex. (Document on file)

• 1862 November 6 – Eliza Scott, widow, of Kingston, Jamaica married George Louthean at Trent Church, Enfield – from Daily News, London. (Document on file)

• 1864 March 16 – Caroline Gordon Louthean baptized, born to George Louthean and Eliza (formerly Scott née Miller) in the Parish of Cheltenham in the County of Gloucester. (Document on file.)
