Afternoon,

A tremendous discovery! Phyllis Jule Legare has discovered the printed notification of the passing of her gg-grandfather Pierre Alphonse July, also known as Alphonse Jule. This is gg-granduncle Pierre Alphonse an elder half-brother of gg-grandfather Jean Jacques Alfred July. Their father was ggg-grandfather Jean François July. See the July Family Descendant Chart.

Per Phyllis’s effort she was able to find the past printings of the 14 and 16 November 1860 announcements in the Bangor Daily Whig Courier at the Maine State Library in Augusta, Maine.

BENEFIT TO A POOR FAMILY. The sudden
death of Mr. Alphonse Jule, has left his family
very poor, and we see that Mr. English of the
Theatre proposes to give them a benefit; calling
upon the friends and members of the Society with
the deceased, to co-operate with him in the
movement. We have no doubt that they will do
so, and that a full house will be the result. We
learn that the Benefit will take place this even-
ing.

Phyllis also has provided a transcription of the article from Wednesday Morning, November 14, 1860 edition of the Bangor Daily Whig and Courier which announced Alphonse Jule’s passing.

Sudden Death. Alphonse Jule, a painter of
this city, met with an injury about a week
since by sticking a nail in his foot. He took
cold in the same and Monday he died of
lock-jaw.

La mort immédiate de M. Alphonse Jule, a quitté sa famille très pauvre, et nous voyons que M. anglais du Théâtre propose de leur donner un avantage; invitant les amis et les membres de la Société avec le défunt, à coopérer avec lui dans le mouvement. Nous ne doutons pas qu'ils seront donc faire, et qu'une maison pleine sera le résultat. Nous apprenons que la prestation aura lieu ce soir.

En outre, Phyllis a fourni une transcription, de l'article de l'édition 14 Novembre 1860, du mercredi matin de le Bangor Daily Whig and Courier. Il a annoncé la mort d'Alphonse Jule.
