Part 385m – Smith Robertson Genealogy – 1806 Jean Merle - Birth

Afternoon,

The Merle genealogy and my ancestry continue to grow. This new find is another ggg-granduncle, Jean Merle born in Bordeaux, France 27 October 1806. This is a bit confusing to say the least. Without knowing much of the Merle Family history, I now have discovered two ggg-granduncles both named Jean Merle, born in 27 October 1806 and 8 November 1807, respectively, and their younger brother ggg-grandfather Jean-Baptiste Merle, born in 21 March 1810. There are many possibilities, but at this juncture without any documentation, I will not venture a guess as to the story.

Here is the 1806 Ten-Year Table with the listing for ggg-granduncle Jean. I downloaded the image from the Departmental Archives of Gironde for Bordeaux.

lequel nous a presenté un enfant du sexe masculine né ce matin a sept heures
de lui declarant et de Marguerite Pepin son Epouse et auquel il donne
le prenom de Jean. Les dîtes declaration et presentation faites en
presence de Sieurs Paul Biron, agé de quarante deux ans matelassier
meme rue No. 6, & Jean Dupuy agé de quarante cinq ans, tonnelier,
rue des Fauren No. 41. Lecture faite de present le pere et le premier temoins
ont signé avec nous le dernier ayant declare ne savoir./.

Mr. Jean Merle aged forty three years old, cooper of Capéran Street, No. 8,
who presented to us a male child born at seven this morning
and he declared that he and his wife Marguerite Pepin had given him
the first name of Jean. The said statements and presentations made in
the presence of Messrs Paul Biron, aged forty two years old, mattress maker
of the same street No. 6, & Jean Dupuy, forty five years old, cooper,
of Fauren Street No. 41. The reading was done, the father and the first witness
and we have signed with the latter having declared not knowing how. /.

La généalogie de la famille Merle et mes ancêtres continuent de croître. Cette nouvelle découverte est un autre arrière-arrière-arrière-grand-oncle, Jean Merle, qui est né à Bordeaux, France 27 Octobre 1806. C'est un peu déroutant pour dire le moins. Sans connaître une grande partie de l'histoire de la famille Merle, j'ai maintenant découvert deux arrière-arrière-arrière-grand-oncles tous deux nommés Jean Merle, et tous deux nés en 27 Octobre 1806 et 8 Novembre 1807, respectivement, et leur frère cadet d’arrière-arrière-arrière-grand-père Jean-Baptiste Merle, né en 21 Mars 1810. Il existe de nombreuses possibilités, mais à ce stade, sans aucune documentation, je ne vais pas avancer une hypothèse quant à l'histoire.

Voici les Tables Décennale de 1806 avec l'annonce de arrière-arrière-arrière-grand-oncle Jean. J'ai téléchargé l'image de la Archives départementales de la Gironde à Bordeaux.
