Part 391m - Smith Robertson Genealogy - The Confusion Of the Merle Search

Good Early Evening,

The Merle Family gets very confusing.

There are three more sons to add... These will follow in my subsequent Postings.  From what I have found so far gggg-grandfather Jean Merle and his first wife Jeanne Auzerel, aka Ozerel, aka Ozereau did have four sons.

GGGG-grandfather Jean Merle and his second wife, Marguerite Pepin had four children. Again this is what I have found at this point. They had three sons and a daughter.

The birth of ggg-granduncle Pierre Merle was registered the 16th day of Germinal in the 12th year of the Republic.

The marriage of gggg-grandfather Jean Merle to gggg-grandmother Marguerite Pepin was registered on the 29th day of Prairial also in the 12th year of the Republic. That was about 73 days after the registration of the birth of ggg-granduncle Pierre Merle.

My thought, without documentary proof, is that gggg-grandfather Jean Merle’s first wife, Jeanne (née Auzerel) may have passed away sometime between giving birth to ggg-granduncle Pierre or just thereafter.

It would not surprise me that gggg-grandfather Jean’s immediate reaction, being a father with a baby and at least some other small children, was to find a mother to take care of his children. This may suffice as reasoning why there was not a child born to him and his new wife, gggg-grandmother Marguerite (née Pepin) until at least one and a half years later, following their marriage.

This is my preliminary summation based on the logic of the dates of the events and of the similarities in the signatures, see Part 387m from each of the eight birth registrations, and the third fact is that all recorded occupations for gggg-grandfather Jean Merle are that of "tonnelier", a cooper.

I could be on another planet.

C'est ma proposition, basée sur la logique des dates des événements, et des similitudes dans les signatures - voir le 387m Partie, à partir de chacun des huit Actes de Naissance, et le fait que toutes les professions sont celles du «tonnelier». Je pourrais être sur une autre planète, et tout à fait tort.
