Part 430s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Indenture Research – 1821 GGG-Grandfather James Smith – Pleasant Hill Estate

06 January 2011

Good Morning, Joyous Three Kings Day, Greetings for Epiphany, and a Merry 12th Day of Christmas…

Another cold front is moving into the southern climes of Florida. Canada has all been a very generous and giving country, but for once could you please keep and refrain from sending us your blasted winter air?

In my search and work on my Transcription Project of the Grenada Registers of Records I now move to a new Item, Item 7 of the microfilm FHL [1563379]. This microfilm covers the Register of Records 1811-1825 (v. W4-H5). The prime purpose of my Transcription Project is my quest and search for the origins of and possible genealogy of my ggg-grandfather James Smith.

The first Document of this Item 7, is included on Pages 56 through and including 58. It appears to be a contract lease and sale of approximately 11 acres of land in the Parish of Saint Andrew. From my understanding of the Document, and I am neither a Contract nor Real Estate Lawyer, ggg-grandfather James Smith is selling, well sold, the Pleasant Hill Estate to one William Lyon, a Mason, also of Grenada.

Here are the downloaded images of the Indenture –

The above insert of the Three Wise Men is a snippet from "Mary and Child, surrounded by angels", mosaic of a Ravennate italian-byzantine workshop, completed within 526 AD by the so-called "Master of Sant'Apollinare", from Wikipedia.

The next Indenture appears to also involve both ggg-grandfather James Smith and William Lyon. Stay tuned.

Enjoy,

Jim
