This morning’s Document from the Grenada Register of Records 1797-1817 (v. G2-R2) captured from the microfilm FHL [1563328] and found in Item 6 contains an amazing wealth of information. It is a record of an appointment of power of attorney from one Richard Oliver Smith, who appears to have reached his 21st birthday on 9 June 1808, to William Mitchell of Grenada. Richard Oliver Smith is at the time of Stuarts Grove in Brompton, in the County of Middlesex, England.
Not that I am in any way shape or mentally-formed a legal-beagle but it seems that in 1793 William Smith willed his estate, which included Revolution Hall, to the five-year and two-month old Richard Oliver Smith the son of Sarah Dean. This transcription is a long one but there are a number of choice bits of information and data. All-things-being-equal I cannot read any that could tie ggg-grandfather James Smith.
The pages from Item 6 are 15 through 19 –
