And the explosion continues. This genealogy thing is just amazing…and all-things-being-equal I haven’t even started.

Today I decided to search the birth of JK’s great-great-great-grandfather Thomas Aldridge. Based on the 1851 England Census taken in Liverpool, ggg-grandfather Thomas’ birthplace is indicated as “Yorkshire, Beverly”. Source Citation - The National Archives, London, England. Class: HO107; Piece: 2183; Folio: 350; Page(s): 56,57; GSU roll: 87185-87187.

Part 649s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Updated Scott Descendant Chart

Good Day,

And it is great that at times there are family members and connections that are willing to share their research and the details that they have chanced upon. This time the new information and data center on our Scott Family line and genealogy.

Thanks to Tonya, our Scott connection in British Columbia, and her research and continued search, I can add some new detailed information about our ggg-grandfather Alexander Reid Scott to our Family Tree.

Part 648a – Smith McCullogh Genealogy – 1860 and 1861 Baptism and Birth Registration – GG-Grandaunt Maria Aldridge – Liverpool, England

Good Day,

And the search goes on. The genealogy of the Aldridge Family continues with the fourth and youngest daughter, JK’s gg-grandaunt Maria Aldridge.

The location of abode for the Aldridge Family changed from Bedford Street North to Waterloo, both in Liverpool. GG-Grandaunt Maria was baptized, as were her three elder siblings at St. Peter’s Church. The above inserted image is an 1880 image of St. Peter’s.

To date the only record I have discovered of gg-grandaunt Maria is that of her Baptism Registration entered into the Parish Register and kept at the Liverpool Records Office. The reference number is 283/Pet/2/50. The date of the Baptism is 8 July 1861 and the noted Birth date is 5 March 1860.

Part 647a – Smith McCullogh Genealogy – 1855 Baptism and Birth Registration – GG-Grandmother Julia Adelaide (née Aldridge) McCullagh – Liverpool, England

Good Day,

The next connection in my genealogy quest is JK’s great-great-grandmother Julia Adelaide (née Aldridge) who married his great-great-grandfather William George McCullagh 31 December 1881 at the Mission Church of Dublin, South Dublin, Dublin, Ireland.

GG-Grandmother Julia Adelaide (née Aldridge) was baptized 15 October 1855 at the Parish Church of St. Peter in Liverpool. This was the same Church that her two elder siblings were also baptized.

The inserted image is of Bedford Street North in Liverpool in 2012. This was the approximate location of the Aldridge home in the early 1850s.

From the Baptism Register from the Parish Church I have captured an image of the Registration Page. My source for this document is the Parish Register as maintained at the Liverpool Record Office; 283/PET/2/43.

The ad is the "goodneighborEXTRA", and I will NOT spell out the 9-letter name of my insurance company.

The height of incredulity is the prime article, in the email SENT to ME. It is titled


"Help Protect Your Home: Clear Your Roof of Snow"!!!!!!!

Bloody Hell! I have only been a customer of this concern for 30 YEARS!!!!

And I moved to Florida to get away from the reaches beyond the frost line cause I did not want to shovel snow off my roof anymore.

Part 645a – Smith McCullogh Genealogy – 1853 Baptism and Birth Registration – GG-Grandaunt Sarah Elizabeth Aldridge – Liverpool, England

Good Day,

In keeping with this train of genealogy (or perhaps genealogical) thought, here are two Pages from two Registers reflecting the baptism of JK’s great-great-grandaunt Sarah Elizabeth Aldridge. Also I have included the Births Registered in October, November, December 1853 Page.

This is where it becomes a wee bit confusing. According to the Births Registered Index gg-grandaunt Sarah Elizabeth Aldridge’s birth was registered in Liverpool sometime in the months of October through December in the Year 1853. The Baptism Register from the Parish Church of St. Peter as does the Bishops Transcript records the baptism as of 3 June 1853.

All-things-being-equal gg-grandaunt Sarah Elizabeth should have been born sometime prior to 3 June 1853. This means that all three of these mentioned documents do not indicate the actual date of her birth. To acquire the actual date of her birth one would have to obtain the birth date information from the 3rd Quarter Volume #8b and Page 142. The logical conclusion at this point is that she, gg-grandaunt Sarah Elizabeth Aldridge was born sometime before 3 June and that her parents may have been late in registering her actual birth.

Part 644a – Smith McCullogh Genealogy – 1849 Birth and Baptism – GG-Granduncle Thomas Henry Edward Aldridge – Liverpool, England

As per Part 643a I have discovered four Baptism Registrations of JK’s Aldridge Family and genealogy.

The inserted image is of St. Peter’s Church in Liverpool. It was established in 1704. In 1919 is was the Pro-Cathedral for the Church of England and demolished in 1922.

From the Parish Register of the Parish Church of St. Peter in Liverpool, Lancaster, England I have downloaded an image of Page 319 from the Liverpool Registrar’s Office - #283/PET/2/38.

Part 643a – Smith McCullogh Genealogy – Four Aldridge Baptism Registrations – 1849 - 1860

Well today I stumbled upon some new info.

I discovered four baptismal records in the St. Peter’s Church Register from Liverpool, Lancashire, England. It really is amazing that when I might be looking for one thing I discover something completely different. This genealogy search and research is certainly a strange game.

I was looking for the death registration of my great-great-grandfather John Robertson’s first wife, Margaret (née Dennison).

From the information that I have gathered she may have died sometime between 1845 and 1849 and somewhere between Liverpool and London. I am almost there, I think.

But in the meantime, while I followed a tangent in the Registers of Liverpool I discovered four baptism registrations for JK’s great-great-grandmother Julia Adelaide (née Aldridge) McCullogh and three of her siblings; gg-grandaunts Sarah Elizabeth, and Maria, and gg-granduncle Thomas Henry Aldridge. The baptisms are registered: 1849; 1853; 1855; and 1860. All documents are from the Liverpool Register Office. Amazing stuff!

Part 642s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – 1803 Gavin Smith – St. George, Grenada – Double-Barreled Surname

Good Day,

The hunt continues; the hunt for the genealogy and ancestry of my ggg-grandfather James Smith. And with that search I include my Transcription Project. I am transcribing Smith-related Documents from the Grenada Registers of Records… and at times, it certainly is hard not to become side-tracked.

Well this next Document from the Registers is dated and signed 10 May 1803 and was entered to the Registers 12 May 1803. The contract is between Samuel Bosanquet and Jacob Bosanquet enacted by their Attorney Henry Rush and Gavin Smith. The arrangement is regarding a property in the Town of St. George.

All-things-being-equal I am not aware of any filial connection between the above-mentioned Gavin Smith and the Bosanquets to my ggg-grandfather James. In my research I did discover that there is another double-barreled surname – Smith-Bosanquet. Who knows? I do know that there has been at least three double-barreled surnames created by the direct descendants of ggg-grandfather James Smith.

Part 641s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – 1802 Gavin Smith – St. George, Grenada – Easy Paella

Just diverting a wee bit from my obsession of genealogy and the search and research for the origins and ancestry of my ggg-grandfather James Smith…
I decided to enable another one of my obsessions, cooking.

Last night’s supper was an experiment, (and that is not necessarily something different in this house)… I decided I had a hankering for some Paella. And do you think I had the time to make a true-blue Paella? Hell, no! I only decided this at about 3:00 pm and we were slated to eat about 6ish.

With two pans; my Paella pan and a frying pan on the stove top I placed onion, garlic, and chili pepper in olive oil in the Paella pan. Five minutes later I added some saffron threads, chopped parsley and chicken broth. Brought to a boil, then simmered for 20 minutes.

In the frying pan, in some oil, I threw in some chopped-up chicken breast, which had marinated in olive oil, paprika, oregano, salt and pepper for about 30 minutes or so. Five minutes later, I added chopped green and red bell peppers, and of course some chorizo. Attempting to correspond with the rice time countdown, I then added in some shrimp. Rice on plate topped with chicken, chorizo and shrimp proved a very delectable, simple, quick and easy Paella. Dang was it good!

Back to my search and research.

The next Document is a follow-up Contract to Part 640s between Gavin Smith, the Surveyor of Grenada and Patrick Kewley and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth. Make sure to take note that the surname "Kewley" is spelled two different ways throughout this Indenture - Kewley versus Kewly.

And the search continues. This search for the origins of ggg-grandfather James Smith's origins and genealogy can certainly appear to become frustrating and superfluous. It seems that there appears to be no resolution or end in sight. I am looking for the minor crack in the door way.

The next Document from the Grenada Registers of Records is one written 24 November 1802 between Gavin Smith of Grenada, the Surveyor and Patrick Kewley, a Merchant and his, I think, sister-in-law Elizabeth Kewley, both of Liverpool.

Good Day,

This next Indenture dated 28 August 1802 and entered to the Grenada Registers of Records 7 January 1803 appears to be the third and final Document of a series of contracts between Benjamin D’Harriette Smith and Archibald Armstrong. These Contracts all seem to be centered around the Lot of Land in Port D’Espagne, Trinidad.

At this point, I have not found any blatant inter-connection or tie to ggg-grandfather James Smith. This is a continuation of my search and research for the genealogy and origins of ggg-grandfather James to Grenada.

Here are the images of Pages 174 through and including 181 from the Grenada Registers of Records as downloaded from Item 4 of the microfilm FHL [1563378].

My transcription. Please note that I have attempted to place a line break at the end of each line as it appears from the actual script in the Document. There may be a word-wrap "over-run" but doing it this way actually provides in keeping with the actual Indenture. I could reduce the pitch of the font to make a "neat and tidy" presentation but then it may require an increase in sales of magnifying glasses.

This Indenture Tripartite made the twenty eighth day of August in the
Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and two Between Archibald Armstrong
of the Island of Grenada Merchant, of the first Part Benjamin D’Harriette Smith of
same Island Merchant and George Henry Horsley of the same Island Gentleman (a Trustee
named and appointed by and on behalf of the said Benjamin D’Harriette Smith) of the third Part
Whereas by Indentures of Lease and Release bearing date respectively the twenty seventh and
twenty eight days of this present Month of August and made or mentioned to be made between
the above named Benjamin D’Harriette Smith of the one Part and the also above named Archibald
Armstrong of the other Part, after reciting that the said Benjamin D’Harriette Smith was seized in
his Demisne as of Fee of and in one undivided fourth part of and in a certain Plantation or Estate
called the Garden situate in the Quarter of Arouca in the Island of Trinidad with the Slaves

particularly described and also of and in one undivided Moiety of and in a certain Lot of Land

Authorities for the Recovery of the same hereinbefore contained And also subject to upon
and for the several Trusts Intents and Purposes hereinafter expre∫sed and declared of and concerning the
said hereby granted and demised Premises (that is to say) Upon Trust and to and for the End
Intent and Purpose that in case the said Yearly Rent charge or annual Sum hereby granted as
aforesaid or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of Sixty days next after either if
the said days hereinafter appointed for Payment of the same Then and from thenceforth and
so often from time to time as if shall so happen it shall and may be lawful to and for thesaid
George Henry Horsley his Executors Administrators and A∫signs by Mortgage Sale Demise or other
Disposition of all or any part or parts of the said hereinbefore particularly mentioned Premises comprised
in the said Term of five hundred Years for all or any part of the said Term or by with and out of the Rents
I∫sues Profits and Produce of all or any part or parts of the said premises or by making Entries upon or
bringing Actions against the Tenants or Occupiers of the same or any part or parts thereof or by all or
any of the aforesaid Ways and Means or by any other ways or means as he the said George Henry
Horsley his Executors Administrators or A∫signs shall think proper to levy and raise all and every such
sum and sums of Money as shall be requisite and sufficient to pay and satisfy unto thesaid Benjamin
D’Harriette Smith his Executors Administrators and A∫signs at the times and in manner hereinbefore
mentioned thesaid Yearly Rent Charge or Annual Sum of Five hundred Pounds so long as the same
shall be payable or so much of thesaid Yearly Rent Charge or Annual Sum as shall from time to time
be in Arrear and unpaid as aforesaid together with all such Sum and Sums of Money Costs Charges
Damages and Expenses as shall be laid out sustained or occasioned by or by reason of the nonpayment
or detention of the same or any part thereof at the days or times hereinbefore mentioned for Payment
thereof and shall and do pay apply and dispose of the Monies so to be levied and raised as aforesaid
in payment satisfaction and discharge of the said Yearly Rent Charge or Annual Sum hereby granted
and all arrears thereof and of all Costs Charges and Expenses attending the Recovery of the same and any
or any part thereof and after payment and satisfaction thereof then In Trust to render and pay
the Surplus of the Money so to be raised as aforesaid (if any such Surplus there shall be) unto the
said Archibald Armstrong his Heirs or A∫signs And thesaid Archibald Armstrong for himself his
Heirs Executors and Administrators Doth Covenant Promise and agree to and with thesaid
Benjamin D’Harriette Smith his Executors Administrators and A∫signs by these Presents in manner

Good Day,

No, I haven't given up...but I tell you that this transcribing can become tedious work. At time I find myself, under my breath, cursing at the scribe to hurry up and get to the point, and stop using so much legalese.

Today I'm attempting to Sous Vide a small Pork Loin roast. Should prove interesting in a water immersion bath of 138°F (59°C) for five hours. Sides - Sweet Potatoes and a Japanese Cucumber Salad.

And so the search and research continues for ggg-grandfather James Smith.

This next Indenture from the Grenada Registers of Records dated 28 August 1802; entered 7 January 1803; and signed 9 August 1805 follows my previous Posting, Part 637s. The principal Parities involved are Benjamin D'Harriette Smith and Archibald Armstrong. Both are Merchants in Grenada, but contracting a transaction of a lot of land in Port D'Espagne (now Port of Spain), Trinidad.

There does not appear to be any immediate link of sorts to ggg-grandfather James.

time to time and at all times hereafter upon every reasonable request and at the proper Costs and
Charges in the Law of the said Archibald Armstron his Heirs or A∫signs make do acknowledge levy suffer
and execute all such further and other lawful and reasonable Acts Deeds Things Devices Conveyances
and A∫usrances in the Law whatsoever for the further better more perfect and absolute granting conveying
and A∫suring of the same Premises and every part thereof with the Appurtenances unto and to the use of
