August 30, 2009 - Weaving and A Translation of the 1816 Jully Poujeau Marriage Registration - Part 46

I sat down today and reviewed my transcription and attempted a first translation of the 1816 marriage registration of ggg-grandfather Jean-François Jully and his first wife, Françoise Poujeau. My first transcription of the same registration is in Part 44. I have made some changes and I have tried to make sure that I get down, as close to exact, each letter and word, with accents, as I can see. Please feel free to take a look, and please send me your changes and additions. Remember more eyes are certainly better than just two... And I think I'm going to need some new glasses. (Okay Lynn, that's a big opening!)

And am I excited... more information of the this and the preceding generation is made apparent.

GGG-grandfather Jean-François Jully was 20 years old when he married Françoise Poujeau, who was three years his senior. It looks that his mother Jeanne (née Colommiere), my gggg-grandmother, as his father, gggg-grandfather Pierre Jully had previously passed away, had to give her permission for him to marry. All-things-being-equal ggg-grandfather Jean-François had not yet reached the legal age of maturity.

And gggg-grandfather Pierre must have been a weaver, a "tisserand".

GGG-grandfather Jean-François was a painter, a "peintre", and this corresponds with his occupation entered to the birth registrations of 1831 of gg-granduncle 1833 Edmond Achille July (see Part 41j) and of gg-Jean Jacques Alfred July (see Part 33). The next question is of course, was the surname "July" or "Jully", or the scribe of the marriage registration took some liberty... But if you check out the signature of ggg-grandfather Jean-François in Parts 44, 42, 41j, and 33, you'll see that the signature is definitely "July".

But, and here's the big but, I've got a copy of the 1796 birth registration of ggg-grandfather Jean François and the surname is entered as "Jully". There is no specific signature that can be an obvious "Jully" or "July". One "l" or two "ll" is not a big issue, but... I need to know!

And I'm just wondering is there is a "textile" gene? There's only about 40 or 50 quilts hidden in the nooks and crannies of this house... and the machine room, that's another story.

J'ai fait quelques changements et j'ai essayé de faire en sorte que j'écris, le plus près exacte, chaque lettre et la parole, avec des accents, comme je peux voir. S'il vous plaît n'hésitez pas à jeter un oeil, et s'il vous plaît envoyez-moi vos modifications et ajouts. Rappelez-vous les yeux plus sont certainement meilleurs que seulement deux ... Et je crois que je vais avoir besoin de nouvelles lunettes. (Ok Lynn, qui est une grande ouverture!)

Et je suis heureux ... plus d'information du présent et de la génération précédente est rendue apparente.

AAA-grand-père Jean-François Jully était de 20 ans, quand il épousa Françoise Poujeau, qui était de trois ans son aînée. Il semble que sa mère, Jeanne (née Colommiere), mon aaaa-grand-mère, comme son père, aaaa-grand-père Pierre Jully avait déjà décédé, a dû donner sa permission pour lui de se marier. All-choses-être égale-aaa-grand-père Jean-François n'avait pas encore atteint l'âge légal de la maturité.

Et aaaa-grand-père Pierre doit avoir été un tisserand. AAA-grand-père Jean-François a été un peintre, ce qui correspond à son occupation sont entrées à l'enregistrement de naissance de 1831 de aa-grand-oncle Edmond Achille July 1833 (voir partie 41) et de aa-grand-père Jean-Jacques Alfred July ( voir partie 33). La question suivante est, bien entendu, était le patronyme "July" ou "Jully", ou le scribe de l'enregistrement du mariage a pris une certaine liberté ... Mais si vous vérifiez la signature de aaa-grand-père Jean-François en 44 parties, 42, 41 et 33, vous verrez que la signature est certainement "July".

Mais, et voici le grand, mais, j'ai une copie de l'enregistrement de naissance de 1796 GGG-grand-père Jean François et le nom de famille est inscrit comme "Jully". Il n'ya pas de signature spécifique qui peut être un manifeste "July" ou "Jully". Un "l" ou deux "ll" n'est pas un gros problème, mais ... J'ai besoin de savoir!
