Part 874bm – Brunhammer Doherty Genealogy – McAteer Descendant Chart – Updated

28 July 2014

Good Day,

As I progress with my search and research in family lines I like to create my own descendant charts. The following is an updated Descendant Chart for the McAteer family line that I am current exploring.

The Descendant Chart is as follows:

I use the software GenoPro which is a genealogy software assists in the creation of family trees and genograms.

You’ll notice that I have discovered a couple of ways that the surname has been put down on paper: McAteer; MacAteer; and MacKeteer. And as usual please know that this data may change as we uncover new and more documentation and information.

If you have any information and data that may assist us in this re-creation please feel to contact me, via this Blog or by email.

Enjoy,

Jim

Part 871bd – Brunhammer Doherty Genealogy – AB’s Ethnic Makeup

15 July 2014

Good Day,

Well it appears that according to Family Tree DNA’s myOrigins from the Family Finder product Andy Brunhammer and his siblings are 100% European.

The breakdown is 64% from the British Isles and 36% from Western and Central Europe. According to Family Tree DNA when referring to the British Isles, the darker blue area, the cluster is typical to the British Isles, especially Ireland. The Western and Central European, the lighter blue, cluster combines nearly all of the threads of European genetic history into one.

There is a shade of differences when the interpretation is done according to 23andMe – 99.4% European, 0.5% Sub-Saharan African, less than 0.1% Yakut, and less than 0.1% unassigned. Of course there is no indication of a margin of error based on each of the companies’ interpretation.

All-things-being-equal one has to take into account that each company has its own team of sales and marketing staff who may or may not appreciate adding the “bells and whistles” to provide a somewhat justifiable campaign to the genealogy-centric and interested public.

Andy’s Y-DNA, his Brunhammer paternal line is I2a2 (I-M423) at Family Tree DNA and I2a2b at 23andMe. His maternal mtDNA, Doherty plus, line is X2e1 at Family Tree DNA and X2e at 23andMe. Both firms basically are saying that his DNA results are the same.

Part 870sr - Smith Robertson Genealogy - My Ethnic Makeup

09 July 2014

Good Day,

And it is time to get back into my genealogy research.

I need to understand the myOrigins Ethnic Makeup results from my Family Tree DNA account and portfolio.

My Ethnic Makeup results are:

- European - 78%
  (British Isles - 62%; Western and Central Europe - 11%; Finland - 5%)

- Jewish Diaspora - 14%
  (Ashkenazi Diaspora - 14% (Poland))

- Middle Eastern - 4%
  (Asia Minor - 4% (Turkey))

- Africa - 4%
  (West Africa - 4% (Nigeria/Cameroon))

The Ethnic Makeup results are an offering of the FTDNA Family Finder product.

I have also recently received a number of emails regarding my Smith YDNA research that present the possibility of a possible connection back to around 1200 AD.

Check up for my update and discussion at my site A Genealogy Hunt.

If you have any thoughts, questions, ideas, comments, please feel to get in touch me via email at Jim Smith.

Enjoy,
