Part 426j – Smith Robertson Genealogy – 1735 Baptism & Birth – GGGGG-Grandaunt Jean Claude Jullie

21 December 2010

Evening,

Shades of e. e. cummings. It is somewhat taxing, not that it would not take too, too much to do that to the grey mush between my ears, but the scribe who entered the baptism registration of my ggggg-grandaunt Jean Claude Jullie must have had an earlier version of a texting unit.

In my research of documents and data in the search of my genealogy and ancestors I have to be cognizant to the idea that not every scribe or recorder is going to write entries in the format that I am so accustomed. In this case the scribe had decided not to capitalize proper names and words… and that, most definitely throws me off my exercise of translating. I am so glad that I had to take a semester of e. e. cummings at some point in my educational past. Could we say that he was a texter, shy the mobile unit, before the time?

Again from the FHL collection “Registres paroissiaux de Sainte-Marie de Sarlat (Dordogne), 1618-1791” I found the baptism registration, dated 26 March of ggggg-grandaunt Jean Claude Jullie, daughter of gggggg-grandparents Pierre Julie and Margueritte Escouveyrou.

I have copied the image of the acte de baptism, baptism registration from the microfilm FHL [1415272].

My transcription –

Murat _____ _____

My translation –

On March 26, 1735 was baptized by me the undersigned, Jean Claude Jullie, natural and legitimate daughter, of Pierre Jullie, and Marguerite Escoubeyrou, who jointly sponsor_____ _____ yesterday Jean Murat, _____ and godmother Claude Jullie.

Murat _____ _____

I had to make sure that I could read key points to ensure that I make an informed judgment regarding the information of any specific person. In this case, when I initially looked at the baptism registration I read the name “Jean Claude Jullie”. In my learning, “Jean Claude” is a masculine name. But as indicated in the registration the child being baptized is the “fille naturalle et legitime”, the natural and legitimate daughter. “Jean Claude” is a female. She is my ggggg-grandaunt and not my ggggg-granduncle. My mistake… Lesson learned… make sure to read the total as best as possible.

Enjoy,

Jim

Bonsoir,

Murat _____ _____

Ma traduction –

On March 26, 1735 was baptized by me the undersigned, Jean Claude Jullie, natural and legitimate daughter, of Pierre Jullie, and Marguerite Escoubeyrou, who jointly sponsor_____ _____ yesterday Jean Murat, _____ and godmother Claude Jullie.

Murat _____ _____

Bon chance,

Jim

Part 422j – Smith Robertson Genealogy – July Marriage Index – Sainte-Marie de Sarlat – Hace frío

13 December 2010

Morning,

The Florida sun is shining. The Florida skies are blue. From my seat at my PC it looks like another gorgeous Florida day in the sunshine. Friggin’ wrong! It’s bloody cold… and that’s with a capital “C” and capital “D” – ColD!!! This is not the tourist mecca of sandy beaches and lapping waves of warm bliss. It’s the land of granular snow and hyperthermatic aqua, with a Spanish accent. Hace frío!!! If the damn weather forecasters can make up words like “radiational cooling”, I can make up my own, as in “hyperthermatic aqua”. And I even have a definition, all scientific and such. “Hyperthermatic aqua” is that tone of blue one’s lips turn just before they turn purple. (The inserted image is of some Florida locals at Clearwater beach.)

Returning to my genealogy quest to find my ancestors on the branches and limbs and my Family Tree, I thought that I should present the page of the Index of Marriages from which I have found at least two indications of marriage registrations of my July connections. This image of the Index page is downloaded from Item 2 of the microfilm FHL [1415457].

The image is from the “Registres parissiaux de Sainte-Marie de Sarlat (Dordogne), 1618-1791”. From my understanding this collection may cover Indexes of marriage registrations from the year 1644 to 1791, and not necessarily in consecutive sequence. Some years are missing in the Index.

In my attempt to search for any marriage records of my July Family Line, I have tried to ferret out each entry, albeit acte de marriage, that may have some inkling of a name that may resemble the name July. You will notice that on the inserted image of the Index page there are three entries. Based on my research and collected documentation I can provide some semblance of credibility to the possibility that at least two of the marriage entries are affiliated to my July Family Line. The two that are definite possibilities, and I have presented, as previous Postings: Parts 418j; 419j; 420j; and 421j, are the two marked with a red “X”. They are, transcribed:

Pierre Julie et Marguerite ----- 11 7bre 1731, and

Pierre Jully et Magdelaine Vaurigeau } tous _____ _____ ----- 23 8bre 1753

The 3rd and the unknown entry is, transcribed:

Jacques Julie et Jeanne Taverne? tous _____ _____ ----- 13 avril 1711

All-things-being-equal Jacques Julie could be a relative but I have not found any immediate evidence at this time to prove the case. Based on the dates of the entries Jacques Julie and Jeanne Taverne? could have been the generation preceding gggggg grand-father Pierre Julie of the 1731 marriage entry.

Just my thoughts. And I continue.

Part 421j – Smith Robertson Genealogy – 1731 Marriage – Piere Jullie and Marguerite

Morning,

I would never have believed that I would have ever been able to find the documentation relevant and necessary to re-construct the branches of my genealogy and family tree.

This next transcription work is the best that I can make out, but I can honestly say that there appears to be enough information that provides confirmation that this Acte de Marriage of 1731 is pertinent to my July Family line.

The image is a page of the Parish Registers of Sainte-Marie of Sarlat. Again there are no page numbers to cross-reference. My four points of recognition are the names Piere, Jullie, Marguerite, and Sarlat. The actual date of the Acte de Marriage is 11 September 1731, and this provides credence that the bride and groom so registered is that of gggggg-grandparents Piere and Marguerite Jullie.

I have downloaded the image from the microfilm FHL [1415272].

And here is my attempted transcription. Any assistance would be appreciated. I would like to be able to read the word in the first line following gggggg-grandfather Piere Jullie’s name. All-things-being-equal it could be a word relaying his occupation… and that is only my guess.

nuptialle.

The following is my brief and attempted translation.

On September 11, 1731 they have received the wedding blessing Piere Jullie, _____ and Marguerite native of _____ _____ and resident of Sarlat in the presence of Guillaume Leceniar? and Francois _____ _____ _____ _____ has ascribed the wedding blessing.

Enjoy,

Jim

Bonjour,

On September 11, 1731 they have received the wedding blessing Piere Jullie, _____ and Marguerite native of _____ _____ and resident of Sarlat in the presence of Guillaume Leceniar? and Francois _____ _____ _____ _____ has ascribed the wedding blessing.

Bon chance,

Jim
