Part 932ss – 1833 Baptism GG-Grandfather Reverend Alexander S. M. Scott

11 April 2019

Good Day,

Today I am working with the Baptism Registration of my Great-Great Grandfather Rev. Alexander S. M. Scott. The date of the Baptism registration is 30 July 1833. It is the “Record of Baptisms solemnized in the Parish of Saint Andrew in the County of Surry in the year 1833”. This is the same Parish in Jamaica in which I was born and baptized, 118 years later.

Here is a copy of the page from the digitized copy of the Parish register transcripts, 1664-1880, Church of England, Diocese of Jamaica. Registrar; Jamaica. Registrar General’s Department, (Author). The FHL #4005286; Image 188 of 219 is from the Family History Library collection.

Here is the entry of GG-Grandfather Alexander Scott’s 1833 Baptism entry. GG-Grandfather Alexander's entry is the last one, #34.

My transcription –

371 Record of Baptisms solemnized in the Parish of Saint Andrew in the County of Surry in the year 1833

No – 34

When Baptised – July 30th

Child’s Name & When Born – Alezr Scott 17th August 1830

Parent’s Name –

Christian – Alex Reid & Eliza

Surname – Scott & Hall

Abode – ?? Pen

Profession –

By whom the ceremony was performed – Revd T(homas) B Turner

To date I have discovered the following sons and daughter of GG-Grandfather Alexander Scott and GG-Grandmother Sarah Ann Rosetta McKowen.

1. Henry Alexander Cumberland Scott – born 16 Apr 1856; died 10 Jun 1857

2. Great-Grandmother Ella Margaret Louise (née Scott) Smith – born 6 Sep 1857, Nassau, Bahamas; died circa 1945, Grenada

3. Leonard Campbell McKowen Scott – born circa 1858

4. Hubert Somerville Scott – born 20 Sep 1858, Nassau, Bahamas

5. Percy St. John Scott – born circa 1861

Regarding my search and research, I would think that GG-Grandparents Alexander and Sarah were married in about 1855 and somewhere between Grenada and Jamaica.

If you have any thoughts, ideas, or questions, please feel to ask.

Beginning with my Great-Grandmother Ella Margaret Louise (née Scott) Smith, I am now searching for all possible sources of information associated with my Scott Family Line.

Next on the docket GG-Grandparents Alexander and Sarah Ann Rosetta (née McKowen) Scott's Marriage Registration and GG-Grandfather Alexander Scott's Burial notice.

The search continues.  And I just keep on going.

If you have any comment, question, thought, idea please feel free to contact me via email at A Genealogy Hunt or jsmith58@gmail.com.

Regards,

Jim
